ouz20: Morose
Best Regards From Hungary
Released in 2001.
CDr in thin cardboard postcard-shaped box with inlay sheet,
artworks by R. Tedoldi. |
 |
The 3rd Morose EP (28 mins) contains 10 lo-fi
songs between rock and pop: simple ballads based on charmful
melodies, guitars and minimal drums meet casiotones, accordions
and flutes.
Hungary is the country of the emotions the
band tried to express in these songs - and it's also the
country with the highest rate of suicides in the world.
Style: Velvet Underground, Nick Drake, Sebadoh,
Califone

ouz18: Deleted
Untitled For Now

Cover artwork: Gonk inc. Now available for FREE download. |

|
The first French band on Ouzel Records!
A great pop/rock work by F&C Petchanatz
(KLIMPEREI): 22 carefree songs through retro sounds and unforgettable
melodies.
I felt in love with Deleted when I heard the
track they provided me for the "2nd Anniversary Compilation",
released by Ouzel Records in summer 2000. Now this work is available for free download.

ouz17: Yuri
s/t
Released in 2001
Originally released on CDr in coloured slim cardboard box, this work is not available now. Artwork by E. Varone. |

|
Four tracks, 17 minutes and 32 seconds of
analog and digital sounds melt together.
This MCDr was recorded on a 4 track recorder
between 1998 and 1999, using an old PC486, a Commodore CDTV,
and some more conventional instruments, such as a guitar,
a bass, and human voices.
Tracks 1-3 are the remakes of three songs
written by different ouzel bands: you'll discover the "Wet"
main theme (originally written by Priscilla) among the loops
of the overture, then a playful version of Morose's first
hit called "Mario Malano" follows, while the 3rd
track is a claustrophobic remake of Gluck's "Carpace".

When you're about to learn how to smile, Onq's going to be the one to teach how to cry.
A very unique release among ONQ's work, in which the mood and the arrangements are closer to Leonard Cohen's or Nick Cave's acoustic ballads, rather than to the sound of "The Supreme Weight", "Dasein Ohne Leben" or "Canzoni Tutte Uguali".
